It's possible that so many officeholders have survived sexual scandals simply because the public has a low opinion of politicians. They may not be surprised that politicians are cheating on their spouses and may be more likely to forgive behavior that they assume is happening anyway. Read the Article

I doubt that rehabilitation is in the cards...He failed at two attempts to run for President even without the Rielle Hunter scandal dogging him...Other than the freak-show vibe coming from his public appearance in Bloomington...no one really cares about Edwards. I still agree with John Edwards on numerous issues. But that he continued to campaign and raise money, all the while knowing that the Enquirer had him right in the cross-hairs, well, that is a transgression not easily forgiven. Read the Article
