Should Detroit continue to be a host for the Thanksgiving Classic games?

It is no secret the Detroit Lions have been a struggling franchise. They were the only team to go 0-16 in NFL history (last season in 2008) and the second team to have a winless season (1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers). They have one playoff win since 1957. That smells...

Before last week against Cleveland, their team has been a subject of pity around the league. But traditionalists still enjoy watching them once a year: Thanksgiving. The Detroit Lions (along with the Dallas Cowboys) have been a staple of the Thanksgiving Classic since the 1960s. Commissioner Goodell has confirmed they will host the game this year, yet the future is still uncertain, as other owners are beginning to speak up about wanting that coveted TV spot. In the modern day of big market media, is there room for tradition to stick around? Or have people moved on from this tanking franchise, looking for a new team to fill the spot?

Michael Rosenberg writes an inspiring piece of why the Lions deserve to hold the spot.
