“Google may be trying to duplicate the success of competitor Hulu, which has become the top outlet for watching full-length films and TV shows on the Web, and is reportedly generating as many ad dollars in its first year in business as YouTube, which will mark its fourth birthday in February.”
“YouTube is obviously seeing the threat from the likes of Hulu. By offering a widescreen player, YouTube can better compete and support professional content owners. I’m sure there are some amateur videos that will look swell in a widescreen player, but YouTube’s latest move is all about the pros.”

“One word: Hulu.”
“This is a pretty major change that will no doubt anger some users. Where as YouTube’s “watch in high quality” option requires users to click to activate it, the new aspect ration comes as a default. ”
